image for Duchess Kate gives birth to a boy and a girl!

LONDON - It's a boy and a girl for Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. No, it's not twins...

The former Kate Middleton gave birth to the couple's first child, a hermaphrodite, on Monday afternoon at a London hospital. The child weighs 8 lbs and 6 oz. and has fully functioning male and female genitalia, according to the official statement from Kensington Palace.

"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild," the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall said in a statement. "It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy/girl."

The baby will be known as the Prince and Princess of Cambridge and is third in line to the throne after Prince Charles and Prince William-Prince Harry will be now be fourth in line.

The child marks the first time a King and Queen will rule over Great Britain at the same time.

"May he/she be long-lived, happy, and glorious, and one day reign over us!" the crier proclaimed of the new Prince/Princess. "God save the King Queen!"
